Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device

Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang

In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a threat intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), journeying with a carnival and helping prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Last Installment

At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
