The New Mayor Vows a 'New Era' for NYC in Maiden Address

On his first day in office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reinvent” America's largest city, ushering in “a new era” and an bold start to his administration.

A Historic Mayor

Mamdani now faces one of the most demanding jobs in American politics, with a plan promising:

The new mayor must contend with apprehension from some Jewish New Yorkers concerned about his past comments regarding Israel. Tensions were highlighted during the transition when a appointments director stepped down over offensive past social media posts.
